When you adopt a pet, you save a life.

As of January 1, 2022, the adoption fee for dogs and cats has increased. A spay/neuter refundable deposit for those dogs and cats that haven’t yet been spayed/neutered will be required in addition to our adoption fees. Once surgery has been completed by a veterinarian and we receive the proper paperwork showing proof, you will receive your deposit refund by mail.

The adoption fee for dogs starts at $100, and may be higher in some cases, plus a $50 refundable deposit for spay/neuter surgery if not already performed. (Total adoption fee is $150.) Included with the adoption are the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, parvo/distemper inoculation, a collar with id tag, and a training leash. Pets are given at least a first worming and may have been provided other veterinarian procedures, such as dental care, as needed.

The adoption fee for cats starts at $65, and may be higher in some cases, plus a $35 refundable deposit for spay/neuter surgery if not already performed.  (Total adoption fee is $100.) Included with the adoption are the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, first FVRCP inoculation and wormer, a carrier, goody bag and a collar with id tag.

The Process

  1. Browse through our available dogs and/or cats to see what we have available and take note of the name of the pet. Our current available dogs and/or cats are posted to our Facebook page.
  2. Fill out the adoption form available below and submit for processing.
  3. Please allow us to review your application and any other pending applications for the same animal. This can take up to a few days so please do not call on the status of your application. If you are selected we will call you.
  4. Making decisions about a dog or cat’s placement in adoptive homes is an art, not a science, and there may be times when applications will be declined for various reasons. Approval of an applicant is left to the discretion of the HSHC Facility Director or Board President of the HSHC after all available information has been reviewed.. For any rescued dog or cat in HSHC’s care, we reserve the right to make all decisions regarding final disposition or placement into an adoptive home. There is absolutely NO guarantee, made or implied, that any person or persons requesting to adopt a dog or cat being held at The Pet Place, or posted on The Pet Place of Marshall’s website, will be granted an adoption.

The below pets’ availability may not be as up-to-date as the dogs and/or cats that are currently available.
